After a grand premiere at Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi Tata Tiago has become a well known name among Auto fans. The recent showcasing of Tiago by Tata Motors at Geneva Motor Show has created a wave in the Indian Auto Market. This hatchback is all set to hit the roads on 28th March 2016.Tata dealers are now ready with Tiago at the showrooms for display and customers will be offered a test drive.
There has been a positive review from most of the customers. Bookings for Tata Tiago have been opened at most of the Tata dealers with an initial booking cost of Rs. 10,000. This four-wheeler is expected to be launched at a starting price of Rs. 3.75 lakh. The top variant is expected to be around Rs 5.5 lakhs. Presently Tiago comes with two variants. The diesel variant of 1.05 Litre REVOTORQ XZ 1047 cc engine with a manual gearbox which returns a fuel efficiency of 25.8 kilo meter per litre. The 1.2 Litre petrol variant with a capacity of 1198 cc and a manual gearbox returns a mileage of 21.2 kilo meter per litre. The former with a 1.05-litre unit is capable of generating 69 bhp of power with a peak torque of 140 Nm and the latter with a 1.2-litre engine produces a power output of 84 bhp and a torque of 114 Nm. The engine’s 69 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 14.27 kgm of torque from 1,800-3,000 rpm makes it more powerful than the Celerio’s two-cylinder diesel unit. Both versions of the Tata Tiago feature the new change in drive modes which can change the engine characteristics at the touch of a button. This feature is not seen in any of the hatchback cars of this segment. The default mode is City mode and it has also got an Eco mode which can be used on highways to maximize fuel efficiency.
Tata wanted to rectify on the insufficient storage in the Bolt by providing lots of space for small items in Tiago. Bottle holder is present on each door, two cup holders are provided near the gear lever, a shelf at the driver’s end of the dashboard and a bay to hold mobile phones at the base of the centre console. Rear leg space and shoulder room is good. The Tiago comes with a 245-litre boot. Tablet devices can be placed in glove box which has a dedicated recess. It also has a spacious foot room for the driver and a dedicated dead pedal. This new hatchback is ready to compete with its rivals Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10.
